MSCI, a US company that publishes data on the security of international financial markets, aims to start trading indexes for cryptocurrencies, said its head, Henry Fernandez, speaking at an investment conference.

He said MSCI was in discussions with experts about the launch of the relevant platform, without giving details on which cryptocurrencies could enter the indexes or a timetable for the completion of the project.

Fernandez also said that the private sector, the environment and the fields of social and corporate governance are very promising for MSCI.

Companies like Goldman Sachs, Visa and MasterCard have already taken small steps, supporting the digital world and cryptocurrencies, but are still used in day-to-day life.

MSCI has been looking for ways to expand its offerings, plus, in April, it launched 20 thematic indexes in order to help investors bet on “megatrends” in China that are aligned with the Chinese government’s policy goals.
