A 27-year-old Russian-Canadian man became the youngest billionaire in the cryptocurrency market. He is the man who created Ethereum in 2013, when he was 19 years old. The cryptocurrency went on the market in 2015 and now Vitalik Buterin owns about 333.500 ETH. If you multiply them by the record price of 3.500 dollars that Ether caught on Tuesday, the total is over $1.1 billion!
According to CNN, Buterin co-founded Bitcoin Magazine, a publication covering bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in 2012. In 2014, he was selected to participate in the Thiel Fellowship, a two-year program created by billionaire Peter Thiel “Which gives $100.000 to young people who want to create things instead of sitting in a classroom.”
With Ether prices up 375% since the beginning of this year, the cryptocurrency ranks second in value. The total value of all Ethers on the market is about $403 billion, which is a little less than half the value of bitcoin.
Although investors buy and sell thousands of different cryptocurrencies – such as Dogecoin, which has been openly adored by Elon Musk – Ether and Bitcoin are worth about 2/3 of $2.3 trillion of capitalisation of the global cryptocurrency market. Ether, however, is currently considered the “hottest cryptocurrency”, along with Dogecoin, which is also growing rapidly.
