Tesla now allows the purchase of vehicles in the U.S., using bitcoin as a payment method, CEO Elon Musk announced late Tuesday.
“Now you can buy a Tesla with bitcoin,” Musk wrote on Twitter. “Tesla uses internal and open-source software and operates bitcoin nodes directly. The bitcoin paid to Tesla will be kept as bitcoin and will not be converted into fiat”, he added. Bitcoin is now up 2.8%, at $56.214.
A support page on Tesla’s website explains how people can buy a Tesla using the crypto currency. People outside the US will be able to buy a Tesla using bitcoin as well “later this year”, Musk stated, without specifying which countries he meant.
