Bitcoin over $60.000 – Record high for Ethereum

The price of bitcoin approached $61.712 yesterday, while Ethereum climbed to the new historical record of $2.190.

According to CoinDesk, the top cryptocurrency was trading above $60.000 for the first time in weeks, when its price ranged from $52.000 to just under $60.000.

The price of bitcoin fell slightly, reaching $60.900, but remained above $60.000.

Ethereum, the second-largest digital currency on capitalisation, approached $2.200 just days after crossing the $2.100 barrier for the first time.

Although it is not clear if there is a connection, the rise in the prices of large cryptocurrencies occurred just days before the leading US trading platform Coinbase began trading on the Nasdaq.

Some institutional investors wasted no time. Daniel Loeb, CEO of the 17 billion hedge fund, Third Point, revealed that it has invested in cryptocurrencies, responding to a CoinDesk post.
